(diagnosed at 61, just 7 months ago.)
I eat two pieces of hard tack (Wasa multi-grain). Nothing on it at all. Just the hard tack. I down a v8. I eat my banana in the morning along with a yoghurt, which is about as nutritious as ice cream - I get it! That said, my simple breakfast gets me to lunch and I’m usually under 90 by lunch time.
I eat a shorti sub from Wawa - ham and swiss, whole wheat with oil and vinegar, cukes, red peppers, lettuce and spinach.
I snack on my own nut mixture. Almonds, pecans, peanuts and M&Ms.
I have simple dinner, but do use whole grain noodles and ditched the white potatoes and white rice.
I drink n/a beer a few times a week.
I use stevia in my ice tea and add a bit of s/f ginger ale.
I drink two heaping teaspoons of Metamucil every night. one of the coarse grind that tastes like grit and one of the orange stuff that tastes like tang - all mixed up together! I’ve been doing that though for 20 years!
At dinner out, I’m tempted by the dinner rolls. That’s the sole source of white starch in my life - maybe once per week?
I have a very supporting wife! She reminds me to take my insulin!
