Male Predominance of Congenital Malformations in Infants of Women With Type 1 Diabetes

I read this article: "Male Predominance of Congenital Malformations in Infants of Women With Type 1 Diabetes" (http://care.diabetesjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/32/7/1194)

(This is just a link to the abstract. To read the whole thing, click on "full text" on the right side of the page.)

I'm confused by what this article means.  Does this mean that only male infants born to Type 1 women are suceptable to birth defects?

Thanks!

I think you read it right. But that makes no sense. You'd think an A1c of 10 during pregnancy would hurt either gender. I'll admit I didn't read the full text. Was it just among well-controlled Moms?

that is what  it seems like to me as well.
