If you mean that the doctors didn't even bother a blood test or anything, I was in the same boat. My doctor put me on ANTI-BIOTICS and told me to come back in a week! Needless to say, I was back in the hospital in 1/2 days and sent to another. And since the first two didn't even know how to treat me, I was sent to a third! I spent a week there and then went home amazed that my doctor thought it was an infection. I rarely go to the clinic near my home anymore...

I wasn't exactly over-looked but i do know how frustrating some doctors can be.  It was known to my doctors that i was diabetic for over 3 months.  Even after asking multiple times they denied that anything was wrong, so i demanded the results of my blood work and bam right on top of the page in bold red letters "TYPE 1 DIABETIC - FBS 350".

well when the doctors stopped hearing me complain 24/7 to them they Quote Un-Quote left me a message on my cellphone and i just didnt reply.... then had the nerve to ask if i knew when i got in after i demanded to see the test

Wow, that is crazy!! I went to patient first and right away they tested my urine for ketones, I was too dehydrated to draw any blood so they immediately admitted me to the hospital. They told me right away that I was diabetic.

I was drinking just as much! I literally woke up in the middle of the night in my dorm and my roommate sat there looking at me while I sat on the floor and drank right out of a huge bottle of juice!

I think what made them realize it was serious was because I have a history of diabetes in my family, including my dad.

My diagnosis was pretty much a roller coaster.
I was drinking a gallon of water every 2 hours and I lost 15 pounds so I went to the health center on campus. The nurse tested my blood sugar and then screamed. Very comforting. So I burst out in tears and they sent me to the hospital, saying I had Type 1. I sat in the waiting room for about 4 hours, where they don't allow food. When I finally got in, my blood sugar was only about 200 (from 600), but since it was fasting bs, they gave me a bed. The doctor came in after all of my tests, complaining about how ignorant other medical practitioners were about diabetes. Well, I think he may have been talking about himself because he diagnosed me with Type 2, even though I was only 19 years old, exercised regularly, and was a healthy 130 pounds (I'm 5'9", so I think my weight was normal). He gave me some pills and sent me on my way. Obviously, the pills didn't work and I went to visit my endo when I got back to my hometown from school. The next thing I knew I had Type 1 again and he was throwing all of these insulin pens and needle head things at me. So, I cried some more, mostly because I was upset that I would have diabetes forever, and partially because I was relieved that my pancreas wasn't functioning like that of an out of shape 85 year old. I had a few self-esteem issues after that.

Its very possible!!! Doctors get paid to give you ten minutes ONLY of their time! The good one will take the time to listen but it seems like ALOT of kiaser permanente doctor's do a poor job of helping you find the right diagnosis. They'd rather quickly put you on med's to "Eliminate" the possible diagnosis... Now thats just stupid its so much smarter to draw the damn blood from my arm!!!! I always felt like telling her (DOCTOR FOX) that. If I had a penny for every problem taking ineffective medicine gave me I would be STINKING FILTHY RICH and making ben-frank angels everywhere. Lmao!
